On July 25, 2026, Kang Haneul successfully held his fifth fan meeting, “ALWAYS Season 3.”
Both Haneul and MC ORI mentioned that Haneul had spent a great deal of time redesigning the program. He wanted to create as many opportunities as possible to interact directly with fans, so he kept revising the schedule over and over until he was satisfied.
One of those interaction segments was “Haneul’s Advice Corner.”
It was filled with thoughtful, heartfelt answers, so I’d like to share what I remember.
(Recording was not allowed, so these are based on my memory.)

Haneul’s Advice Corner ③ “I’m studying Korean, but 받침 is so difficult…”
The fan said that she was studying Korean, but 받침 (batchim/ final consants) are so difficult that she was struggling to make progress.
So, what exactly is 받침?
Simply put, 받침 is the consonant at the end of a Korean syllable.
For example, in 강하늘 (Kang Haneul), the ㅇ in 강 and the ㄹ in 늘 are 받침.
하 does not have a 받침.
Japanese sounds generally end in vowels, whereas Korean has syllables that can end in consonants, so for native Japanese speakers, pronouncing and distinguishing 받침 can be particularly difficult.
That’s why the fan asked Haneul for advice on this.
So, what did Haneul say?
어~ 일단,,,저한테 설명해주세욧!
“Um… first of all, please explain it to me!”
니혼고노 칸지가 혼또니 무즈카시이데스.
“Japanese kanji are really difficult.”
한자가 어려운데 어떻게 외워야 돼요?!?!
“Kanji are difficult, so how am I supposed to memorize them?!”
The sudden counter-question from Haneul had the entire audience cracking up.
And then came the very Haneul-like answer.
한국사람 입장에서는 한국어 발음이 완벽하지 않아도
“From a Korean person’s point of view, even if your Korean pronunciation isn’t perfect…”
외국분이 한국말을 쓰는 게 너무 고맙고 듣기 좋아요.
“I’m really grateful when foreigners speak Korean, and I love hearing them speak it.”
지금 할 수 있는 대로 하시면 될 것 같아요.
“I think you should just do what you can, with what you’re able to do right now.”
Now THIS is SO HANEUL way of thinking.
I mean, Haneul’s positive way of thinking.
Rather than focusing on whether the Korean is perfect, he shifts the perspective toward:
“It makes us happy simply that you’re speaking Korean.”
Such a warm and kind answer, very much like Haneul.
And when the fan responded to him in Korean, Haneul immediately encouraged her:
어? 잘하시는데요? 진짜 잘하세요.
“Huh? But you’re doing really well! You’re really good!”
With Haneul giving her that extra boost of confidence, the fan then asked:
“If I watch your works over and over again, my 받침 will be okay, right?”
Haneul played along with her:
제가 앞으로 대사 할 때 최대한 정확히 발음하도록 노력하겠습니다.
“From now on, I’ll do my best to pronounce my lines as accurately as possible.”
가 ㅁ 사 하 ㅂ 니 다! ^^
T.H.A.N.K Y.O.U. very much!
He deliberately pronounced “감사합니다!” (Thank you!) with the 받침 clearly separated out, making the whole audience laugh.
Clementine’s Note 🍊
After this, Haneul kept bringing up the 받침 joke here and there, weaving it naturally into the conversation.
Throughout the entire fan meeting, he repeatedly picked up on topics that had already come up earlier instead of letting them end as one-off jokes.
And it wasn’t just the 받침 topic.
He remembered various things that fans had mentioned during their conversations and naturally brought them back up later in completely different moments.
There were so many moments when I realized, “Oh, that was from earlier!”
His sense of timing, quick thinking, and ability to connect one moment to another were genuinely impressive.
He listens carefully.
He remembers.
And then, in an instant, he turns what he has heard into the next part of the conversation.
Moving back and forth between the stage and the audience, effortlessly delivering answers that brought laughter, emotion, and surprise—
He really is a born entertainer.
(It actually reminded me a little of 소통왕 말자할매, which made me laugh.)
Actor Kang Haneul becomes a comedian.
He becomes a singer.
He becomes a counselor.
He even becomes the MC. 😂
And I suddenly thought:
Ah… so that’s why he’s an actor.
It somehow made perfect sense.
Once again, I was reminded of just how versatile an entertainer Haneul is.
