Hello, I’m Clementine.
Today, let’s take a closer look at Kang Ha-neul talking about his MBTI personality type and learn some Korean expressions along the way.
Video Overview
In this clip from the YouTube show “15ya Live” (September 2023), Kang Ha-neul explains why his MBTI sometimes shows INFP and sometimes ISFP. We’ll also highlight key Korean vocabulary and grammar to help you understand and use these expressions in conversation.
By the way, the host of 십오야 라이브 (15ya Live), Na Young-seok, mentioned that this is their first time working together since “Youth Over Flowers – Iceland”.
(Back in Iceland, there’s a legendary story where Na PD ambushed Ha-neul, who had been attending a film festival, and whisked him off to Iceland with just a tuxedo and a plastic bag – a story fans can’t forget!)
So, let’s jump right in!
By the way, the YouTube video is titled “도파민 라이브에 강스카이의 등장이라…”, and here too, the famous line from The Heirs, “사학루등”, gets a playful mention 😄
CLIP 1

Originally, INFP came out when I first took the test.
But recently, I did the MBTI test again.
INFP came out, so I thought, “Ah, maybe I’m INFP.”
A little while ago, I did it again, and ISFP came out.
So I thought, “Ah, I see,” and then just the other day, ISFP came out again.
그래서 ISFP라고 …
So, I thought ISFP…

It’s the same as me.

ISFP?

I was INFP before. But recently, during a live broadcast, I tried it again, and ISFP came out.

Did you do it during the live?

Yes. About two years ago, juniors suggested we do it and it came out as INFP. But recently, while broadcasting, we tried it again and it came out as ISFP.

No way! Amazing!
Then, this, this…
Clip 2 (continued)

Even when it came out as INFP and I read it,
I thought, “Oh? Oh? This is really similar to me,”
When it came out as ISFP and I read the explanation, it was totally me.
Personally, I felt ISFP fits me better.

(Handshake, hug, and warm gaze , in a way that shows ‘me too’”💞)

Really? Haha, really? Even you, director?

Clementine’s Note 🍊
In the continuation of the clip, Ha-neul mentioned that he finds MBTI interesting. He often says that he enjoys spending time alone, but he likes to live freely, without constraints, following his heart and enjoying the moment. This seems to really match his personality.
MBTI is very popular in Korea, and it often comes up even in everyday conversations.
For example, when meeting someone for the first time, it’s not unusual to hear:
MBTI 뭐예요?
“What’s your MBTI?”
You can simply answer with:
저는 INTP예요.
“I’m an INTP.”
By the way, it’s also common in Korea to say your MBTI using Korean-style pronunciation, such as:
- 인프피 (INFP)
- 잇프피 (ISFP)
- 엔티제 (ENTJ)
So in Ha-neul’s case, his MBTI went from 인프피 (INFP) to 잇프피 (ISFP) 💙
If you had the same MBTI as Ha-neul, you can say: ‘ ☺”
