💡 Here’s the key point! Explaining Ha-neul’s “natural confusion”
Why was Ha-neul so confused when he was called “Ant-Man”?
This scene hides a piece of Korean-style wordplay.
1. What the staff meant: gae–mi-nam
In Korean youth slang, the prefix 개 (gae) is used as an intensifier meaning
“super,” “extremely,” or “crazy-level.”
gae (super) + minam (handsome man) = super handsome guy
2. What Ha-neul misunderstood: gaemi-nam
What popped into Ha-neul’s sincere mind was… an insect.
gaemi (ant) + nam (man) = ant man 🐜
In Korean, ants are associated with being hard-working and diligent.
So he earnestly tried to interpret it as:
“Are they calling me an ‘ant man’ because I work hard?”
